Stress
We all know how damaging stress can be
to our health and well-being. Beat stress now and regain
your health.
Are you feeling close to tears much of the time,
experiencing irrational thoughts, feeling low or depressed
sometimes or feeling manic some of the time?
If so, you are probably highly stressed.
Stress — just
what is it?
Stress arises when someone feels overwhelmed and unable to
cope. It is a normal physical reaction to our perception
of reality; that we are under threat. This occurs when
our basic human needs are not being met in some way. This
physical reaction takes the form of increased adrenalin
in the bloodstream, closing down of the higher thinking
functions in the brain, reduction in sexual drive, poor
digestion of food or lack of interest in food etc. Many
people become so used to feeling stressed that they think
of it as normal, until a physical or emotional problem
arises that requires medical or therapeutic intervention.
Stress takes its toll on the body, which in turn produces
more stress as performance drops. Anti-depressant medication
can relieve stress temporarily, in some people, but it
is only removing the symptoms and not the causes.
“Stress and negative emotions are often stored
in the body’s smooth muscles, which function
automatically, without our conscious control. Stress
stored in smooth
muscles of blood vessels going to the head might produce
a migraine headache, while stress stored in smooth
muscles of air passages of the lungs can produce asthma,
and
stress stored in smooth muscles of the digestive tract
can produce Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Stored emotions
also affect our immune systems.”

Tips to reduce stress
Changing your outlook on life is the most effective stress
reducer one can use. When it is possible to change your
feeling about certain situations, stress automatically
reduces. Hypnosis and EFT both provide a great way to
do this whilst also relaxing and rejuvenating your energy.
New
understanding
of the problem also makes it easier to deal with.
Dealing with stress involves learning how to relax and becoming
more aware of yourself. One stress reducer that has been
found to be helpful to many is to distance yourself from
the event or situation by taking a walk or doing some enjoyable
physical exercise. Careful planning also reduces stress before
it starts. You need to recognize the limits of your time
and ability. Taking time out for yourself is a way of reducing
stress that many do not think of.
Knowing how to deal with stress is an everyday occurrence.
Stress is a normal part of life.
* Take a walk * Take a shower
* Talk about the problem
with a friend
* Exercise to relieve the stress

7:11 Breathing Technique
Simply breathe in to the count of 7 and out to the count
of 11. Slowing down the outbreath sends messages to your
brain that this is a ‘calm-down’ situation,
not a ‘ramp-up’ one. Practised regularly, it
can become automatic as soon as stress levels start to
rise beyond a tolerable point.
EFT (emotional freedom techniques) can
help you to uncover the unconscious sources of stress, an
example of which might be having a fundamental
belief
that the
world is an unsafe
place, or that you are powerless to affect the direction
of your life. This belief colours the way you interpret the
world around you and causes the mind to trigger the alarm
system that results in physiological
responses
(flight
or
fight
syndrome). Left untreated, these
unconscious
stress factors can lead to physical ailments, anxiety, panic
attacks, phobias, depression, OCD and other symptoms of deep
anxiety. EFT is a therapy that can quickly uncover
and resolve sources of stress and rebalance the body's energy
to maintain full health and well-being. You can read more
about EFT and stress including PTSD (Post-traumatic stress
disorder) at the main EFT
web site.
